Winter 2026 - 2027 events
Following our research in summer 2026 regarding the CPD and events our network schools would like to be offered, we have created a selection of network events.
Open to all, these events are mostly in-person at Pate’s Grammar School, Cheltenham, however some may be online webinars. Please see individual events for details.
Pearson and the 2024 GCSE
Tuesday 20th October 2026, 4pm, Pate’s Grammar School, GL51 0HG
Taking place at Pate’s Grammar School, Cheltenham, GL51 0HG, colleagues will come together with Pearson exam board to find out more about the GCSE 2 years on, followed by time to network and discuss with other attendees.
To register your interest in attending, please email isbournelanguagenetwork@patesgs.org and we will send you the link once available.
Developing Listening Skills by Kedi Simpson
Monday 23rd November 2026, 4pm, Pate’s Grammar School, Cheltenham, GL51 0HG
Drawing on her PhD research, Kedi will talk about what students are perceiving when they listen to a foreign language, with examples mainly from French, but with some German and Spanish. Once we've better understood what the students’ internal experience of listening to an MFL is, we can begin to change our practice in the lesson so that they can understand better and learn more from the listening parts of the lesson.
To register your interest in attending, please email isbournelanguagenetwork@patesgs.org and we will send you the registration link once available.
Other forthcoming events
Other topics we will be covering, with dates and specific details still to be confirmed, will be:
Increasing uptake at GCSE – November 2026
AI in Modern Language Learning – November 2026
Primary langages – January 2027
Creativity and music in languages – February 2027
If you are interested in any of these events, please email us isbournelanguagenetwork@patesgs.org and we will send registration and further details when they become available.
